Safety and Wellbeing Come First
At Mellor’s Mind Craft, the safety, safeguarding and wellbeing of every child and young person are central to everything we do. We are committed to providing a secure, nurturing and inclusive educational environment where learners feel safe, valued, respected and understood.
Our approach extends beyond physical safety, recognising the importance of emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, individual dignity and the diverse needs of our learners. Through SEND-aware and trauma-informed practices, we promote an environment where children and young people feel comfortable, supported and confident.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We maintain robust safeguarding procedures, safer recruitment practices, comprehensive risk assessments and clear arrangements for managing concerns, medical needs, emergencies and individual vulnerabilities.
Our commitment is reinforced through robust staff training, ongoing professional development and monitored compliance procedures.
Employees and subcontractors undertake relevant training, including safeguarding, Prevent, first aid, health and safety, data protection and specialist training appropriate to their responsibilities.
We work collaboratively with families, local authorities and relevant professionals, promoting open communication, accountability and consistently high standards of care.
Above all, we want every family to feel reassured that their child is entering an environment where safety is prioritised, wellbeing is valued and every individual is treated with dignity, compassion and respect.
Compliance & training
Safer recruitment
All members of staff and subcontractors undergo the appropriate safer recruitment and checks for their role.
Enhanced DBS checks
All staff and subcontractors hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service. Checks are completed before they begin working with children and young people, alongside regular spot checks.
Safeguarding training
All staff and subcontractors complete the required safeguarding and child protection training for their role, with ongoing updates in line with our policies and procedures.
We believe that the quality of our provision is reflected not only in the education we deliver, but in the care, integrity and professionalism demonstrated by every member of our team.
