Who is Mellor’s Mind Craft for?

Our learners come to us for many different reasons. Some want additional support or challenge alongside mainstream school. Others are home educated. Some need an alternative approach to education, while others may have SEND, an EOTAS package or need support to re-engage with learning. There is no single type of “MMC learner” – that is intentional.

Do you support children with SEND?

Yes. We combine high-quality teaching with SEND-aware and trauma-informed practice, adapting the environment and approach around the individual without placing labels or limits on what they can achieve.

Who will be teaching my child?

Our Director, Rachel Mellor, is a qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and many years’ experience across teaching, moderation, educational consultancy, assessment and supporting children with additional needs.

Are your staff DBS checked?

Yes. All staff and subcontractors go through safer recruitment checks and hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service. Checks are completed before they begin working with children and young people, alongside regular spot checks.

Are you open during the school holidays?

Yes – we are a 52-week provision, open all year round.

Where are you based?

Our centre is at Caroline House, 146 Manchester Road, Audenshaw, M34 5HQ.

How do I make a referral for alternative provision?

Schools, local authorities and professionals can contact Rachel directly on 07783 833520 or Rachel.Mellor@mellorsmindcraft.com.

Can my child arrive and leave on their own?

Only with your permission. On our Student Information form you choose whether an adult will always drop off and collect your child from the classroom door, or whether your child may arrive and leave independently. We also use a collection password as an extra safeguarding check.

Can you give my child their medication?

We can only support with medication that is prescribed, supplied in its original labelled pharmacy packaging and accompanied by an up-to-date Individual Healthcare Plan, agreed with us in advance. For asthma, we need a current Asthma Action Plan and a labelled inhaler and spacer kept on site.

How do I update my child’s details?

Please tell us in writing as soon as anything changes. A change is only recorded once we have confirmed it to you in writing – if you have not had confirmation, please do not assume our records have changed.

Still have a question?

Rachel is always happy to talk things through.
